A Woonsocket City Council hearing as to whether the mayor Lisa Baldelli Hunt should be removed for office will continue tonight.
After several hours, the council adjourned after hearing the initial testimony provided by City Councilor Denise Sierra.
Her formal complaint against the mayor which alleges that the mayor is not performing her duties as prescribed by law was introduced last night.
There are nine charges that have been brought forward against the mayor which include not executing a police contract among other things.
The city councilor testified for nearly three hours.
The Mayor’s attorney will present her defense tonight.
It was generally speaking a normal day for the Mayor.
Earlier in the day she appeared with Governor Dan McKee as the two cut the ribbon for the new Woonsocket Education Center. The facility will add workforce training and educational options for the people in the northern part of the state.
After the event, Governor McKee met briefly with reporters where he said that he will continue to work with the mayor because he “has faith in her leadership.” The Governor also said “I have all the faith in the world,” in Mayor Baldelli-Hunt.
