Louis Coleman, the man found guilty in June of the kidnapping and murder of Jassy Correia heard his fate from a federal judge in Boston.
Life in Prison without the possibility of parole. The judge will allow Coleman to serve out his sentence in Arizona to be closer to his family.
Prosecutors say that Coleman tricked the victim into thinking that he was going to give her a ride home. But instead, according to US Attorney Joshua Levy he held her against her will, sexually assaulted and killed her.
Correia’s father was one of many family members who attended the trial every day that it was in session. He told reporters that he was satisfied with the sentence. He said Coleman did not have a right to be in society because of his actions.
Coleman’s attorney David Hoose had argued that the events of the night in question were not pre-determined.
