Providence native Jeremy Peña has become the first rookie shortstop in Major League Baseball to win a Gold Glove.
The awards were announced on Tuesday. Peña was the American League Championship Series MVP.
He went 2-for-5 at the plate with a run scored in Game 4 of the World Series on Wednesday night to help the Houston Astros beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-to-0, knotting up the series at two games.
Game number 5 is tonight.
