As Rhode Island State Police get ready for an increased presence on the roads this holiday weekend, Providence Firefighters will do their part in the annual Safe Night program.
The fire department will offer free rides in Providence from 5pm New Year's Eve until 7AM New Year's Day.
Officials say the department offers the program from any bar in the city to a private address in an effort to prevent drunk and impaired driving.
The program has been so popular in the past that if you use the program you may experience delays.
