Honeywell Leaving Smithfield-122 Jobs Lost

Honeywell has notified the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training it will permanently close its manufacturing plant in Smithfield by mid-November.

At the start of the pandemic, N95 masks were being produced at the facility, employing hundreds of people.

The company says all of its more than one-hundred remaining employees in Smithfield have been notified.

The first layoffs are set to begin in late April.
