The White House reportedly will break up its COVID-19 response team after the public health emergency ends in May.
The Washington Post on Wednesday cited current and former officials who said some staffers have already left and national coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha is expected to leave the Biden administration once his team is disbanded.
The COVID-19 response team was created in 2020 in the early days of the pandemic and expanded to about three-dozen staffers under President Biden.
Dr Jha has not spoken about future plans. It is expected that he would return to the Brown School of Public Health where he is the Dean.
The Team ending as the pandemic recedes from U.S. hospitals and voters' minds.
