State Marks Milestones In Wind Power

Rhode Island officials marked progress being made in the offshore wind industry.

Governor Dan McKee, Providence Mayor Brett Smiley and members of the congressional delegation visited the Port of Providence to celebrate Ørsted and Eversource starting construction on advanced foundation components of Revolution Wind.

McKee's office says the seven-hundred-megawatt farm will be Rhode Island and Connecticut's first utility-scale offshore wind power production, creating thousands of jobs.

The companies also say they've finished work on the equipment for the South Fork wind project, which will supply electricity to Long Island.
