The Tiverton Planning Board voted to kill a proposal for a crematorium near the center of town on Tuesday night.
Sakonnet Partners LLC requested the permit to build the facility off Main Road.
The board said they requested documents which were not submitted on time.
Residents also expressed concerns that the crematorium would impact their quality of life.
Sakonnet Partners argued they are allowed by right since the property is in a general commercial district, but they have not indicated if they will appeal.
