Cannabis Ads Closer To Reality In State

The Rhode Island House of Representatives has passed legislation and sent to the Senate to allow the state's cannabis dispensaries to advertise their products.

The bill sponsored by Representative Scott Slater of Providence would allow the Rhode Island Office of Cannabis Regulation to handle the advertising rules until Governor Dan McKee's administration forms the new state cannabis commission.

McKee signed a law legalizing recreational marijuana in Rhode Island one year ago.

Slater says the Rhode Island dispensaries are at a disadvantage because Massachusetts and Connecticut businesses are currently able to put up their ads on highway billboards and elsewhere.
