A new candidate is entering the Rhode Island 1st Congressional District race.
The announcement was made on Thursday by Bella Machado Noka, who is running as a Democrat.
Noka serves as an elder for the Narragansett Tribe.
Incumbent Congressman David Cicilline is resigning to become the president of the Rhode Island Foundation.
A primary election will be held on September 5th, with the general election set for November 7th.
