The Rhode Island Secretary of State is reminding potential runners in the 1st Congressional District special election that the deadline to declare as a candidate is approaching.
Forms must be submitted to the Department of State Elections Division in Providence by 4 p.m. on June 30th.
Democrat David Cicilline resigned last month to become the CEO of the Rhode Island Foundation.
A primary election to fill his seat will be held on September 5th, with the general election set for November 7th.
