The Providence Planning Commission is considering new apartments in the Fox Point area.
The 62-unit complex has been proposed on Wickenden Street.
While there is support for the badly-needed housing, the head of the Fox Point Neighborhood Association says small businesses are concerned about this not being the right fit, and they have signed a petition to keep the development out.
The Developers say unless there are projects, the state will not be able to draw more young people to the state.
