Rhode Island Treasurer James Diossa is partnering with The Washington Trust Company as a follow-up to a federal settlement on "redlining" practices.
The bank agreed to pay nine-million dollars to settle allegations of lending patterns that discriminated against Black and Hispanic people in the state.
Additional actions include the creation of an advisory board which will have a representative of the treasurer's office.
Westerly-based Washington Trust will also expand its advertising on media outlets in under served communities and communities of color.
