Unionized Janitors Authorize Strike

Unionized janitors in Boston, Providence and Worcester have authorized a strike if need be.

90 percent of the more than 15 hundred commercial buildings in those communities, including Boston’s Prudential Center are affected.

Union Officials are demanding what they call a “strong salary” that keeps up with the rate of inflation and an increase in employment.

The union says while the bosses went home in the buildings they work in – they were left to clean and were the first line of defense against the coronavirus in those buildings.

And officials say that more than 200 workers died during the pandemic during that time.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu says that the city of Boston is behind them.
