Two of Rhode Island's daily newspapers begin service today as one publication.
The Blackstone Valley Call & Times combines the Call of Woonsocket and the Times of Pawtucket. Jody Boucher, regional publisher for the two papers told the Providence Business News that increasing costs along with declining readership and ad revenue forced the decision to merge.
The new paper will be published six days a week, with a weekend edition beginning this Saturday, and no Sunday edition.
An electronic edition will be provided to digital subscribers along with any breaking news.
