Wind Farm Project On Track For 2025

Work on a new wind farm planned off the coast of Point Judith is underway.

Governor Dan McKee was at Quonset Business Park in North Kingstown to watch as cable began to be laid for the farm.

Nearly 100 turbines will make up the farm - it is expected to generate 704 megawatts and can power more than 350 thousand homes.

The Governor says the farm is part of the state's efforts to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2033.

Operations are on course to begin by late 2025.
