CVS Changing Prices On Prescription Drugs

CVS is changing the way it prices prescription drugs.

The new approach, dubbed CVS CostVantage, will use a new formula that includes the cost of a drug, a fee and a set markup to determine a drug's price and the reimbursement with pharmacy benefit managers.

The company says the new model, which will launch in 2025, will bring more transparency to its drug pricing system.

CVS executives say the shift in payment models could cause some drugs to cost less and make others more expensive.
