McCoy Stadium To Be Demolished For New High School

A final effort to save McCoy Stadium appears to have come up short.

Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien says the city is moving ahead with plans to demolish the ballfield to make way for a new high school.

Grebien's comments came in a letter to Soloviev Group CEO Michael Hershman, who tried to buy the stadium, intending to secure a new baseball team.

The longtime home of the former Pawtucket Red Sox, McCoy Stadium has been empty since 2019, after the club moved to Worcester.
