A new report shows that the national shortage of primary care physicians in the US will get progressively worse, and Rhode Island is not immune to the problem.
The Robert Graham Center projects that Rhode Island will experience a shortfall of about 100 primary care physicians, or 11% of the workforce by 2030.
This would result in up to 200-thousand residents not having access to a regular physician.
The nonprofit Care Transformation Collaborative - Rhode Island is backing legislation to provide incentives for medical students to go into primary care.
