Unionized nurses and colleagues at Women & Infants Hospital are calling for increased staffing levels..
During their informational picket, healthcare workers called on hospital management to address ongoing staffing shortages.
The holiday season is particularly difficult for the hospital and patients, as workers go on leave.
This causes nurses and staff to have less time to help new mothers with matters such as breastfeeding.
They also point out that turnover is high for young nurses, due to the pressure of the job.
Hospital officials say all services are available to patients and can cope with the holiday shortages.
