North Kingstown Police Chief Retires

North Kingstown's longtime Police Chief, Patrick Flanagan has retired.

The department says Flanagan stepped down, effective earlier this month, after 35 years in uniform.

Flanagan, who was appointed chief in 2016 is credited with initiatives such as having clinicians ride with officers to assist people in need of mental health services.

He also saw all officers were issued Narcan to help incidents involving drug overdoses.
