Holidays Take Toll On Covid Cases

The recent holiday season has seen an increase in coronavirus and flu cases.

The state Department of Health announced levels at Rhode Island hospitals for COVID-19 patients were raised from low to medium status, effective today.

Figures show 230 residents were admitted to hospitals with COVID-19 in November, with 21 deaths recorded.

The number of positives jumped to 359 for December, with 14 deaths, although that number remains unofficial. Care New England and Lifespan are again requiring staff and visitors to wear masks, and residents are urged to take all necessary precautions.
