Rhode Island's Department of Education has awarded more than 50 million dollars toward the construction of a new high school in Pawtucket.
The new, state-of-the-art building is envisioned to hold 22 hundred students and will replace the aging Shea and Tolman schools.
Voters approved a 330-million dollar bond for the new school, so the state grant takes some of the financial pressure off the city.
This will be the largest school construction project in state history, one of seven schools that will be built or remodeled.
