Woonsocket Mayor Christopher Beauchamp has confirmed that federal Housing and Urban Development officials visited the city this week, regarding a land deal engineered by his predecessor.
Former mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt had approved the purchase of land on Mendon Road from a developer she had once worked for.
The one-point-one-million-dollar price paid was more than five times the property's assessed value.
Baldelli-Hunt resigned in November after the City Council began to investigate the deal, which should have gone through the chamber.
HUD became involved, as federal funds were involved in the purchase.
Beauchamp said HUD officials told them their investigation was complete.
