State Deals With Multiple Flooding Instances

Flooding has become more common across Rhode Island, and the result is prompting an increase in the purchase of insurance, and payouts.

Federal Emergency Management Agency figures show payouts have gone from approximately 11-thousand dollars in 2019 to 2-point-6 million last year.

In the state, more than 11-thousand policyholders are paying for over 3-billion dollars in coverage.

The increased rise of sea levels and more powerful storms have spurred cities to buy up flood-prone properties to protect communities against flooding.
