Governor Dan McKee has named one of his senior aides to assist the state Department of Transportation with the ongoing Washington Bridge matter.
Senior Deputy Chief of Staff T. Joseph Almond is tasked with oversight and coordination between agencies.
The governor's office says McKee also renewed his request with the Federal Emergency Management Agency for assistance with obtaining financial aid.
Federal investigators are examining potential false claims connected to the westbound span of the bridge, which was shut down in December after structural problems were discovered by engineers.
