Lawmakers Want Answers: Bridge Ok To Stay Away?

The Rhode Island House and Senate oversight committees will hold a joint hearing Monday, regarding the Washington Bridge.

Among those expected to testify are RIDOT Director Peter Alviti, along with Joseph Almond, senior deputy chief of staff to Governor Dan McKee.

Lawmakers want to know how the westbound span of the bridge went from passing a routine inspection last July, to its sudden shutdown in December.

The state's responses to the closure will also be examined.
