Mayor Commits To Safer Streets For Drivers, Pedestrians, Bikers

Providence is enacting an ordinance designed to reduce traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2030.

The "Vision Zero" program is a commitment to redesign streets for the safety of pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers.

The initiative was unanimously passed by the city council last week.

The Mayor concedes that it will take millions of dollars to pull off- but that the funds will be sought in order to make drivers and all residents safer on the roads.
