Newport police have arrested a local man for a series of charges, including arson and carjacking.
Twenty-five-year-old Foster Krupa is accused of setting four fires in the basement of a mansion on Ruggles Avenue early Wednesday morning.
Krupa allegedly followed this up by vandalizing several parked cars, then used a fishing spear to steal a vehicle from a woman in the 500 block of Bellevue Avenue, before crashing the car a short time later.
Police reported having to use stun guns to bring Krupa under control.
He faces 16 counts in all and is being held pending a status hearing set for March 5th.
