Opponents Say Gun Reform Is Off Target In Current Bill

Advocates for firearms reform called on lawmakers Tuesday to pass two pieces of specific legislation.

These call for a statewide ban on assault weapons, along with enhanced firearm storage requirements.

Those in favor noted that access to assault weapons has led to increased violence and mass shootings, and unsecured weapons also increased risk.

Gun advocates charged the measures will render Rhode Islanders defenseless, and will not stop crimes from occurring.
