State Ports Seeing Added Traffic After Key Bridge Disaster

Last week's collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore has forced the diversion of ship traffic to other ports.

Nearly three thousand vehicles were offloaded at the Port of Davisville Wednesday.

About one-third of those were meant to be released in Baltimore.

Quonset Development Corporation managing director Steven King says Davisville will likely accept another 50 to 60 thousand vehicles this year.

As a result, more than a hundred workers will be hired.

King noted the industry has to adjust to situations like the one in Baltimore, and Davisville is in an advantageous position to take up the slack.
