Providence police have issued dozens of warnings to truck drivers, as new weight limits have gone into effect on East Side streets affected by the closure of the Washington Bridge.
The City Council passed an ordinance amendment last week, which bans trucks of more than 15 tons from using any city bridge and some roads existing the Providence side of the Henderson Bridge.
Certain vehicles are exempt, including school buses and city vehicles.
Violators will be fined up to 200 dollars.
Enforcement has already begun.
