In the wake of several deaths of young children, the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families and the RI Department of Health are highlighting resources to help children stay safe.
DCYF noted there have been 14 deaths reported to the agency so far this year, with six near fatalities.
The focus is to teach families about safe sleeping practices, and that parents should be aware of potential risks in what positions a child sleeps in and also the hazards of co-sleeping.
Information is available through both state agencies.
