Providence Man Arrested After High Speed Chase Into Massachusetts

A Providence man was captured by Boston-area police, following a high-speed chase on Friday.

The chase began in Rhode Island as police tried to stop a Mercedes driven by 22-year-old Emanuel Salmeron as he traveled on Interstate 95.

Massachusetts State Police took over the chase as Salmeron crossed the border, but broke off pursuit due to the speeds involved.

Not long after, police in Newton were called to the Riverside MBTA Station parking lot, on a report of a man unconscious in a car, identified as Salmeron's. Salmeron tried to flee onto the rail tracks but was quickly captured.

He faces assault, resisting arrest, and motor vehicle violations.
