Legislature Takes Stand On Reproductive Rights

The General Assembly is moving to protect reproductive health services and gender-affirming care.

The Senate passed the Healthcare Provider Shield Act.

The intent is to protect doctors and other health care providers in Rhode Island from legal action from states where abortion and other reproductive health care services have been limited since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022.

A similar bill is pending in a House committee.
