Former RIPTA CEO Changes Plea In Hit-And-Run

The former CEO of the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority has changed his plea in a March 27 hit-and-run crash in Warwick.

Scott Avedisian initially pleaded not guilty but in court Wednesday he pleaded no contest to a charge of failure to stop for an accident resulting in damage.

The court has filed the case for six months and barring any further legal trouble, the charge will be expunged.

No injuries were reported in the accident at a McDonald's drive-through.

Avedisian was driving a state-owned vehicle at the time of the crash.

He resigned from RIPTA in April, receiving an exit package of nearly 68-thousand-dollars.
