State Might Finish Fiscal Year With A Surplus

According to a new report, the state of Rhode Island is expected to finish the fiscal 2023-24 year with a surplus of 243-million-dollars.

State officials say the projected 79-million-dollar increase is based on updated forecasts for revenue and social services and actual spending from July through March.

The report that was published Wednesday, comes as Governor Dan McKee and lawmakers continue to work on the state's budget for the next fiscal year, which begins on July 1st.
