Some Providence Public School students held a walkout Tuesday to protest the non-renewal of dozens of teacher contracts.
Around 51 staffers were notified earlier this month that they would not be returning for the next school year because of funding issues.
Following the walkout, school district officials said they were aware of students exercising their civic rights and demonstrating their disappointment with school staff reductions.
