A bill passed by the House prohibiting landlords from asking about the immigration status of a tenant is headed to the Senate.
Supporters said with finding suitable and affordable housing getting harder by the day, it's vital that Rhode Islanders, especially the most vulnerable, are not blocked from getting housing.
The bill would allow landlords to request information needed to verify the financial qualifications of a prospective tenant.
