The U.S. Coast Guard and first responders began searching for a swimmer who went missing in Newport on Sunday evening.
The search for the 20-year-old began at around 5:00 p.m. on the north end of Brenton Point shoreline.
The Coast Guard's helicopter search was called off for darkness but will resume at sunrise.
The Coast Guard is continuing to search for the missing man by boat.
