Governor Dan McKee joined Rhode Island U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse for a ribbon cutting ceremony to open a new short-stay unit at Butler Hospital.
The new unit will provide essential behavioral health services and help alleviate the strain on local emergency rooms.
The senators secured 4-million-dollars for the project in the fiscal 2023 Appropriations measure and additional funding came from the State Fiscal Recovery Fund and 2023 Rhode Island state budget.
