Nearly half of all Rhode Island General Assembly seats will be uncontested this fall.
The Secretary of State’s Office reports so far of the 113 seats, 16 incumbents in the state Senate and 38 in the House do not have an opponent on the November ballot.
House candidates must turn in 50 qualified signatures, and 100 for the Senate by July 12th.
While House and Senate leaders will have a competitive election, the balance of power is not expected to change, with Democrats holding 99 seats.
