Ground Broken For New Housing In Providence

Senator Jack Reed, Providence Mayor Brett Smiley and other local leaders have broken ground on a new affordable housing project.

The ceremony on Atwells Avenue this morning marked the beginning of construction on apartments for low-income renters.

Over 20-million-dollars in federal funding has been earmarked for the project called "The Avenue."

It will include 85 units with 25-percent of apartments reserved for low-income residents.
