Voters May Decide Future Of Constitutional Convention

An initiative is being launched to defeat Question 1 on the November ballot which asks Rhode Island voters if there should be a convention to amend the state constitution.

The campaign is being driven by Rhode Island Citizens for Responsible Government, a coalition which argues it could be harmful to women and minority groups.

Proponents of the so-called "Con-Con" say that times have changed since the last convention in 1986, and it's important for the public to decide whether of not the state constitution should be updated.
