Judge Says Providence Scrap Yard Can Reopen

A Rhode Island Superior Court judge says a Providence scrap yard will be allowed to reopen.

Rhode Island Recycled Metals was shut down after two fires in three-months led to environmental and safety concerns.

In court Wednesday, a judge accepted the company's remediation plan for reopening.

The company says it plans to reopen by August 12.

Mayor Brett Smiley is said to be disappointed by the decision and Attorney General Peter Neronha says his office will continue with pending litigation to place the company in a receivership.
