Old Scam Gets New Life In Rhode Island, US Attorney Warns

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Providence is urging Rhode Islanders to watch out for a new round of scam phone calls.

The scammers claim to be law enforcement officers in an effort to get personal information or payments for failing to respond to a subpoena.

The callers may ask for Social Security numbers, bank information or dates of birth and they may use the names of real judges.

Anyone who receives one of those calls should hang up and contact the United States District Court at 401-752-7200
