Rip Currents And Rough Surf Expected At Ocean-Facing Beaches

Swimmers should be cautious this weekend because an offshore storm could bring rough surf and rip currents to ocean-facing beaches.

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management says there will be limited lifeguard staffing and reduced swimming areas at Scarborough North and South, Misquamicut, East Matunuck, Charlestown Breachway, and Roger Wheeler state beaches.

East Beach and many city and town beaches are no longer staffed with lifeguards.
