Covington Police are warning the public about a spoofing scam.
Police say a caller poses as a member of the department and tells the victims they need to speak to them regarding a pressing legal matter.
Authorities say the caller appears to be using a spoof number and has appeared to set up a voicemail that's similar to the Police Department.
Anyone who thinks they may have fallen victim to the scam should contact their financial institution and call the Police Department.
