RI Pushes Back Bridge Demolition Target Date

Governor Dan McKee says demolition in the Washington Bridge project has resumed - and demolition of the substructure has been moved up to February of 2025 to ensure a more timely and efficient continuity of work.

The governor also says the state will open a new two-step procurement for the bridge reconstruction which is preferred by the majority of companies that participated in the Request for Information process.

The new timeline suggests that the rebuild of the westbound lanes of the bridge won't happen until the end of 2025.

It is unclear how much the project will cost or how long the rebuild will take.
