DOT: Noise Is Not The Problem In Bridge Project

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation says overnight noise related to the demolition of the Washington Bridge has remained within acceptable levels.

RIDOT placed microphones on each side of the bridge and at the end of Wade Street in Providence and the readings show that the noise appears to have peaked just before midnight.

Officials say there were some instances of the noise reaching 75-decibels - and the contract terms state the sound cannot exceed 90-decibels at a residence or occupied building.
